Choosing colors doesn't have to be stressful
Choosing the right colors for your house can be a daunting task. So many colors to choose from that it's hard to know where to start. Let Kayney Paints help you get it just right.
Start with what will stay the same
Very rarely will you have to choose every color all at once. On the outside, things like your roof, landscaping, and lighting won't change when you're repainting. On the inside, you'll probably keep your flooring, furniture, and window coverings. These will provide the starting point for your color scheme; your paint colors can then be used to highlight the features you like, and minimize the features you don't like.
Decide what mood you want to set
Your color scheme can make a room quiet, fun, luxurious, mellow, or set any of dozens of other moods. Deciding what mood you'd like before you start makes choosing your colors that much easier.
Bring your existing colors with you
Everyone thinks they can precisely remember the colors they are trying to coordinate with. But the reality is that because colors look different depending on the lighting and the surrounding colors, almost no one can do this. Bring a cushion, pillow sham, drawer, or other item to the store with you, both to help you remember and to let the Kayney Paints staff see what you're working with.
Bringing a photo on a digital camera is a last resort if nothing else is available, but remember that cameras rarely render color exactly the way your eye sees it.
Give yourself enough time
Any time you do a project, if you're rushed, you'll be stressed. Picking colors is no exception. You'll enjoy the process so much more if you give yourself plenty of time to gather your color choices, talk about your options with the experienced professionals at Kayney Paints, and then try out the finalists at home.
Technology
Get a bit more confidence in your color scheme by trying it in Pratt & Lambert's color visualizer. You can also take a look at the latest color trends, or look at examples of different decorating styles.
Try before you buy
Kayney Paints has a very popular paint sample program called Rent-a-Quart. After leaving a refundable deposit, for a small fee you take home a quart of actual paint to try on your walls. There's no limit to the number of Pratt & Lambert paint colors you can try, and you'll know when you buy your paint that you've chosen the perfect color.
